Updates in Lung Cancer from ASCO 2016 - J. Weiss - 20160824
This lecture provides a review of 2016 updates from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and includes recognizing new treatment plans for patients with lung cancer, how intensive follow-up can improve the quality of life and survival for thoracic oncology patients, and using American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) in treatment planning. Learning Outcomes: • Recognize new treatments that are available for metastatic lung cancer, localized lung cancer, and small cell lung cancer. • Describe the role that intensive follow-up can play in improving quality of life and survival for thoracic oncology patients. • Discuss use of American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) in treatment planning to ensure appropriate prognostic indicators and evidence-based national guidelines are used when developing treatment plans for thoracic oncology patients. This lecture was presented as a part of the Medical and Surgical Oncology Lecture Series.
