Hereditary Cancer Syndromes - J. O'Daniel - 20150513
This lecture discusses the role of genetics in the inherited risk for cancer. The speaker will talk about assessing personal and family medical history, educating patients on basic genetics and inheritance, and discussing the risks, benefits, and limitations of testing. Learning Outcomes: 1. Identify appropriate patients to refer for cancer genetic risk assessment. 2. Describe a hereditary cancer syndrome that increases the risk for breast and ovarian cancer. 3. Describe a hereditary cancer syndrome that increases the risk for polyps or colorectal cancer. This lecture was presented as a part of the RN and Allied Health Series.
